Translucent Anatomical Mannequin (We call her TAM)This is a slightly unusual job for us in as much as it is an ongoing project, most of our work is 'one offs' or small production runs with numbers known at the outset. Our client 'Life Education Centres' are responsible for manufacture supply and running of mobile teaching units which operate throughout the World. Their aim is to bring a classroom with specially trained teachers to primary school aged children on a once a year basis to educate young children in a highly visual and stimulating way, about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and other body related topics. The aim has been to supply a quality item that needs little or no maintenance robust enough to withstand the dual ardours of young children and mobile units. We feel that this is one of the most worthwhile projects that we are involved with and in an effort to back this, we have managed to hold our costs to the client since the very first TAM was produced nearly 6 years ago. The TAM is an exceedingly complex series of hand assembled castings utilising clear, translucent and opaque resins, together with vacuum formed parts, lighting, engineering and electronics. All of this painted in a way to appear opaque when viewed unlit, but translucent when one of the 18 internal illuminations are activated.
