Mr. Toffee Everton Football Club's walk on mascot. This was made for the club based on an existing 2D character. The costume was made in soft foam, cast into hollow fibreglass moulds, which were taken from a clay master modelled in sections. The moulding process was extremely complex and the final number of parts needed to complete the moulding was, as I recall, in excess of 40 pieces. Unfortunately the original brief forgot to tell us that the character needed to be able to play football as well as 'walk on'. Everton were apparently very upset when Liverpool's 'Red Devil' (original 3D maquette also by us) made as a lightweight costume literally ran rings around the apparently overweight and 'unfit' Mr. Toffee. (too many sticky sweets!)
