Horse, jockey, owner and 'handler'These were part of a series of commissions undertaken for the National Museum of Racing in Sarratoga USA.The figures and horse were clay modelled and cast into GRP with applied hair and paint in the case of the horse and fixed costume in the case of the people. The most demanding part of this job was the horse modelling which being seen in a racing environment would be very critically judged. We found a local Racing stable who were able to allow us access to measure and photograph their horses, and then came to check the results at the studio. What was interesting was that on of the stable girls who did the checking had to run her hands over the modelling to feel if the shapes were right as this was more telling for her than a visual check. |
