1936 Berlin CafeA group of figures made for the Simon Weisenthal Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. All of the figures were carefully modelled at 2/3rds scale with specially selected fabrics that were both correct in period details and that would 'work' at small scale. All of the cafe 'props' were made from individual masters. From the bent wood chairs cast in aluminium to hand blown glasses and cast knives and forks. All made in order to replicate 1930's German tableware. Even the shoes were hand-made with specially thinned leather. The whole setting was finished in black and white to give a period feel and to tie in with archive film footage. |
